Inspection!

Well, tomorrow’s the inspection. And now my room smells like puke. Lovely. -_-;; It’s the vacuum’s fault. Well, technically it’s who ever used the vacuum to clean up vomit that’s at fault, but still. So now my back’s freezing because I need to have my window fully opened.

Hmm.. maybe if I go to the Co-op now and by the time I get back, the smell would’ve gone away? At least a little bit? *hopeful*

Icky black goop has taken over my shower mat

Not nice at all. We’ve got an inspection on Tuesday and this time they check the bedrooms as well as the kitchen. So I figured I might as well clean my bathroom today and then do the vacuuming and tidying up tomorrow. The sink and the toilet were easy enough. Just spray and then rinse. Same went for the shower walls. But the shower mat.. the underside of it is covered in black goop! I sprayed some of the same cleaning stuff I used everywhere else but it didn’t work. So I resorted to scraping & rubbing it off with my fingers. Really messed up my nails. And my finger hurts now. ;_;

On the bright side, I finished my Woolf essay! o/ Go me. *grin* Next, the portfolio. Seems a whole lot managable now that the essay’s done.

Well, I think I’m hooked on coffee now. I actually bought some Nescafe Gold blend or whatever it’s called. It came with free samplers so I figured why not? I’ll need caffeine in the future to keep me up when I try to write essays and stuff.

Sat in the freezing library today for three hours. Got some stuff done for my essay. And now I’ve written a bit over 200 words of it. So I’m on the right track. But I still have to write portfolio stuff at the same time. Hmm… well, hopefully I’ll at least get one of them done before I leave. I can then mail in the other. Don’t really want to mail in both…

I subscribe to this newsletter, right? I usually just skip the bits where ppl send in e-mails and stuff to Carmen (the woman who runs the site and newsletter, etc). But this one link caught my eye. Seriously, some people have way too much time on their hands. See the musical blinking Christmas lights!

Anywayz, I guess I should go back to doing school stuff.. now that I’ve had my caffeine boost and all.

Coffeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hmm.. I guess I shouldn’t’ve had that cup of coffee after all. I was feeling really tired at around nine and I had decided to stay up a bit later to work on my Creative Writing portfolio. So that was like five hours ago and I don’t feel like sleeping. At all. I know I’m going to regret this in the morning, but right now I don’t care. I feel like I’m on a roll. I’ve been playing Text Twist on Yahoo, which gave me some inspiration to what to do for the poetry portion of my portfolio. So I’ve been combing the haiku (stuff we did earlier in the semester) with the definition poems we did for this Monday. It’s not quite ready yet though, but I just felt like I had to take a mini-break from writing it. Not easy coming up with the right word for the amount of syllables needed… Getting there, getting there. No clue what to write for the prose section though. I could try the stream of consciousness stuff Virginia Woolf did. It’s really boring to read, unless… I wonder if I could get Phil to describe what it’s like when doing drugs. Apparently he’s had some sort of bad trip and that could be interesting to write about. Hmm.. I’ll ask him tomorrow.

I am so sleepy! I went to bed last night at like midnight and I actually did fall asleep after about an hour. But then I get a text message from Ryan at like 1:30, then Oliver calls me at 1:45 and then again at 2!! Okay, so it was to confirm what time he’s coming over here today but still!! Me needs sleep. *sniffle*

But I did wake up in time for my French test. And my breakfast exploded in the microwave. Nice way to start the morning, eh? >_< I handed in my essay, met a girl named Rebecca, bought Jaz’s Christmas present (a part of it anyway) and now I’m here.. in the computer room waiting for Creative Writing to start. What an exciting life I lead. XD

I was just asked if I wanted to share a house with 8 other people.. mainly the ones in my flat. Otherwise I’d be fine with it, but they don’t know how to clean up. And a certain someone can be very loud. Plus there’s the tiny fact that I’m hoping to go away next year to the US. So I actually wouldn’t be here to live with them. XD Although, if I don’t get into the program, then I have no clue as to where I’d be staying… really wouldn’t like to stay in the halls again, but if that’s my only option then I’ll just have to deal. Or I could try to find a house that’s looking for one person to occupy a room..

Anywayz, no point in stressing about that now. Too sleepy to think about it coherently. So I guess I’ll just go browse the websites of the different unis in the US to see which ones have a Creative Writing program I could participate in next year..

I took the "The Aura Color Personality" quiz on gURL.com

My aura is…
green

It’s quite a coincidence that green is “the color of money” because people with green auras are often motivated by a desire for power and material success. Their ambition compels them into leadership positions; if they’re not on the student council, they may be planning early on where they’ll go to college and even business school. Read more

Which means that I’ve only got 2 weeks left to do my Christmas shopping. Well, I’ve already gotten something small for Jade, which I’ll supplement with something.. not giving away details of what I’m getting everyone. :-P Then tomorrow I’ll go buy Jaz’s present and possibly Mom’s. No clue what to get Dad. Oliver’s present.. well, I’ve found something that I think he’d really like except.. the store doesn’t have it anymore. So I’ll just have to come up with something else while I’m in Belgium. Unless I can find it in another store tomorrow..

Right, so on Monday when I left, I had scrubbed the stove etc. I come back today… it’s a mess. That is soooooo annoying. And I have no clue who messes it up. It’s not Dani or Niamh (since they don’t really use the stove), not Caroline because she feels the same way I do about the kitchen.. so that leaves the guys. Grr…

Apparently the thing that made my keyboard freeze up is a well known glitch or bug or whatever in the A1650 series or whatever it is I have as a comp. And there’s a downloadable patch online. So now it seems to be in working condition again..

I’m going back home on the 17th (need to take the 5 a.m. train to make it to my plane, what a load of fun that’ll be.. what if the train’s late? Then what?) and then I’m going over to Oliver’s on the 27th. Which means I’ll make it in time for the card game he’s been talking about so much. :) It’s only fair that I go over there this Christmas. He came over to Finland last year, so now it’s my turn. Then next year he’ll come over to Belgium. Simple. :-P

Rude awakening

Urgh.. the fire alarm just went off. Good thing I was wake, unlike the others in my flat. XP No idea what caused it to go off. Was folding laundry when it went off, grumbling about the fact that we don’t have a working iron anymore. Meilyr dropped the one we do have and, well.. it ain’t workin’. Grr..

I should start my essay.. I’m going over to Rotherham tomorrow. Then on Tuesday I’m going over to Comet to complain about this laptop. On Friday, it just froze. The mouse and screen were fine, but I just couldn’t use the keyboard at all. Shut down and restarted like 3 times before I gave up. It’s a brand new computer. It shouldn’t do that. Yeah, so I need to start my essay. Good thing I’ve got the weekend to write it as well. It’s Ryan’s birthday then and I’d really want to go, but unfortunately, my essay is a bit more important. Damn Wordsworths.. Why do they choose boring subjects for us to study? I mean really. This journal is sooooooo dull, and the essay question isn’t even about the journal; it’s about her brother’s poem! Then our next assignment… Virginia Woolf’s To The Lighthouse. On the back cover it says that it’s “an enduring work of art”. I’ve read about one third of it and it’s boring me to tears already. I just don’t like the way she writes. I can put up with Pope and Marlowe with their difficult lengthy lines and weird words, even Dorothy’s complaining of headaches all the time, but geez. Maybe it’ll get better once I’m a bit farther in the book. That’s my only hope for VW right now…

Roisin came over last night. We watched The Stepford Wives. Still good. Gladly watch it again when Oliver comes over. ^-^

Snow. There’s snow. Outside. Here, in Aber. That’s like.. !!! it’s not even December and Aber gets snow. What’s that telling us about the weather to come? Snow. I’d expect it from Finland, but not Aber. Tseh.. Good thing I’ve got my winter coat, eh?

On an unrelated note, I’ve gotten a card from my grandma (no, not the one that died in January). My grandfather has gone to Egypt. Strange things are going on.. o_O winter, snow, weather, cold
